New $900 IS200 Project – Rust Issues?
Hey everyone, I recently picked up a 1999 IS200 and decided to start documenting the build as I slowly bring it back to its best. The first big job was pulling the entire interior carpet out to inspect the floor for any hidden rust, moisture, or mold. Since these cars are over 25 years old now, I figured it would be worthwhile to see what was lurking underneath before putting time and money into other mods. The main reason for doing this was due to a leaking sunroof, hence why I paid $900 for th

Transmission shifting issues
Ryzarok ·Hey guys, I've got a 2016 IS200t F-Sport with 176,500kms and just as of yesterday it started having transmission issues. I drove it for about 2 hours on the way to work and the entire time it had issues changing gears. Specifically going from first to second where it was particularly harsh and would rev up to grab the next gear from second onwards. As well as when from a stop i wanted to go it just kept in first refusing to shift up. Tried going through all the drive modes, same thing. I don't b

Camera chip updated - now it's broken!
Poisson ·I responded to the Lexus recall to replace the camera control chip, even though I had never had any issues. The service manager asked me to get the replacement done regardless (no charge), as they get a serve from Lexus if it's not done. Now I find frequent glitches in the top-down view when parking, which is an annoyance, to say the least. Anybody else had this experience?

Wanting to buy a 2008 IS-F Japan Import - any concerns?
Andy Lo ·Dear all, I did do a quick search before I ask this question but nothing comes up that catch my eye. My apology if it has been ask zillion times before. So I am in a very serious stage of buying a imported IS-F in one of these private car dealers in Brisbane. Most of them are 2008 (although I have very little regards on what year they are) so I will just go with that. With my research I understand anything V8 and before 2010 could have coolant leaking in the V8 valley. Any thing else I shoul

Japanese imports.
I have been decided on wanting an Lexus LS for over a year. I am now settled on wanting a 460 or 600h. Looking seriously now, but having difficulty in finding an importer that I can trust. I have found a dealer in Melbourne that I would trust to import for me, but not having much luck finding one nearer Sydney. The import yard dealerships that I have contacted in Sydney so far do not do private imports, or import based on my specifications. They only offer for sale cars that they have placed on

New $900 IS200 Project – Rust Issues?
Great video. Well done. I'll keep an eye on your feed. The biggest IS200/300 killer over here (UK) was rust just forward of the rear arch along the sill. Moisture gets trapped and rust eats through from the inside. It's a rare car here anyway, even rarer to see one that doesn't show some rust in this spot. Anyway, keep us posted

Hey everyone, I recently picked up a 1999 IS200 and decided to start documenting the build as I slowly bring it back to its best. Since these cars are over 25 years old now, I figured it would be worthwhile to see what was lurking underneath before putting time and money into other mods. The main reason for doing this was due to a leaking sunroof, hence why I paid $900 for the car originally. I filmed the whole process, including removing the interior, lifting the carpet, checking all the common problem areas, and sharing what I found. Hopefully it'll be useful for anyone who's thinking about buying an IS200, restoring one, or just wants to know what to expect under the carpet. I'd love to hear if anyone else has found surprises under theirs, or if there are any areas I should pay extra attention to as I continue the build. If anyone's interested, here's the video: https://youtu.be/Ts3Qd7WX3Yg Looking forward to sharing more of the build as it progresses!

I don't believe the car has ever had a transmission service either. Any advice would be helpful.

Camera chip updated - now it's broken!
I've since looked at the American Lexus club, and it seem that malfunctions after the "upgrade" are not uncommon. I'll definitely be taking it back!

Quite possibly a loose electrical connection? Either way, I would drop it back and get them to resolve the issue which I'm sure they will
